Cookies
Two, and only once you have signed in. There is no banner on this site because there is nothing here to ask you about.
What is actually set
A session cookie. It is what keeps you signed in from one page to the next. It holds an identifier and nothing else — what it points at is kept on the server, not in your browser.
A form token. It rides along with the first one, and it is what stops a form on somebody else's page from being submitted as you.
Both stop meaning anything when you sign out — the session they point at is thrown away — and a session expires after two hours of doing nothing.
What is not set
No analytics. Nothing counting you, nothing following you from one site to the next, nothing passed to anybody. No third-party script runs on these pages at all: the fonts are served from here, and when a place name has to be looked up this site asks on your behalf rather than sending your browser somewhere else.
That is the whole reason there is no banner. A cookie banner exists to ask permission for the tracking, and there is none here to ask about.
If you block them
Reading still works. Every PLIPPET page, every creature, the collections and the map are readable with cookies switched off entirely. Signing in is the part that stops, because staying signed in is the thing the cookie does.
If that ever changes
Anything added later that genuinely needs your permission will be a choice you make, not a banner you dismiss — and this page will say what it is before it is switched on.
